We are looking for a qualified chef to help run our 1922 Bistro. Our up and coming Bistro is in the town centre with a lot of potential for growth. The 1922 Bistro is a part of the Smithton Club which was founded in 1922 and has a strong membership base. We currently open 4 days a week, Wednesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner service. We also cater for functions at the Smithton Club. The successful applicant is someone who is hard working, organised, and creative, with a passion for food and customer service. With the ability work individually and in a team environment, available to work flexible hours and split shifts, nights and weekends. Be willing to help, nurture and develop our enthusiastic apprentice and kitchen staff. A passion for creating dishes using the amazing local produce we have on the NW coast and Tasmania. As head chef your responsibilities would include but not limited to food costing, stock control, and rostering, managing a small team and overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen. An ability to produce and maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation. To develop and ensure menus, food standards, procedures and processes are followed. Desirable skills and experience are: Qualification in Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent Previous experience in similar bistro or pub style dining Knowledge of relevant legislation / regulations applicable to the hospitality industry and kitchen environment, such as health regulations and WH&S Applications close Friday March 2nd 2018.
